Hey There Loyal Readers (and you'd have to be very loyal to still be reading my blog after such a long absence of new content), I just wanted to give you a quick update to let you know I'm still alive and kicking...
Well I made it to Turkey, and since I landed I've barely had time to take a bathroom break. The morning after arriving, the orientation programme for international students kicked off. I've been in Turkish Language lessons every morning, followed by cultural activities in the afternoon, and then usually drinks, dinner, or a perhaps game of soccer in the evening. In between all that I've been meeting with my Masters Coordinator, my subject advisor, my sponsor from Turkish Rotary, sorting out my IT access, enrollments and apartment hunting.
I've got another full week of orientation this week for my Masters (9am till 9pm every night, including the weekend!), but after that I should have some spare time to tell you a little more about Turkey, the university, my course, my plans, and all my new friends.
Since I didn't speak a lot about Turkey before I arrived, I'll give you the quick bullet-point summary as to why I'm here...
What am I studying? Masters of Business Administration
Where am I studying? Bilkent University, Ankara
How long will I be here? At least 10 months, possibly as long as 16.
Why did I go to Turkey? Why not!
What's the square root of August? 17.π
I've sorted myself an apartment right in the city, sharing with a couple Seppos and a Pom. The place is huge, so if any of you happen to be in the nieghbourhood there is a very large couch here waiting for you. You're welcome in my home anytime.
I promise I'll get some more words, pics, and puns up on this blog ASAP.
I hope all is well back home!
Pj.
